Volunteer for Interfaith Hospitality Network at UUMC

IHN_smilinggirl (1)The Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) ministry of UUMC provides a temporary home to families while they take steps to restore themselves to housing.  In cooperation with other churches in Austin and Foundation for the Homeless (FFH), UUMC volunteers host up to four families in our education building for one week four times per year.  Guest families rotate weekly from church-to-church enjoying safe shelter, meals and hospitality provided by church hosts. Guests work with FFH staff to develop needed resources for housing and other needs.  Many guests are already employed, and the children are attending school.  IHN helps to fill the housing gap for families who are experiencing hard times.  Host opportunities include evening or overnight hosting and provision of evening meals.

Our guests will arrive Sunday, September 15 and depart Sunday, September 22. We will need two people per shift for all hosting opportunities below:
Sunday evening
Monday overnight
Tuesday evening and overnight
Wed is covered, but we would like one more overnight host.
Saturday afternoon
Saturday overnight
Sunday morning cleanup —  we need 5-5 people for this.

Contact Kathy Barrett (kbarretttx@aol.com) for more info or to volunteer.
