On Wednesday, February 5th – Are technological advancement, economic development, and population increase signs of a thriving society, or too much of a good thing? “Surviving Progress” explores the concept of progress in our modern world, guiding us through a sweeping but detailed survey of the major “progress traps” facing civilization. This provocative documentary includes interviews with Jane Goodall, Margaret Atwood, Stephen Hawking, Craig Venter, Michael Hudson, and Ronald Wright, the author of A Short History of Progress, the best-selling book on which the film is based.
University of Texas Professor Robert Jensen will introduce the film and lead a discussion after the screening. Refreshments will be served starting at 5:30 pm, with the screening beginning at 6 pm.
