In 2011 Workers Defense Project and hundreds of allies from across the state held the first ever Day of the Fallen march. Together we carried 138 replica coffins to the steps of the State Capitol to commemorate the Texas construction workers killed on the job in 2010. In 2013 we did it again. Carrying larger than life puppets, we called on state legislators to take action for the nearly 1 million men and women who build our state. Because of our 600 person march, we gained the momentum to win two statewide laws protecting Texas workers. This year we will host the largest Day of Fallen yet! Join us and together we can continue winning for workers.
Day of the Fallen Schedule:
- Lobby Day: 10:00 am – 3:45 pm. It is our goal to visit all 181 legislative offices as well as the Governor and Lt. Governor to discuss the issues facing Texas construction workers and their families.
- March and Rally: 3:45pm – 6:00 pm. We will start at the JJ “Jake” Pickle Federal Building (300 E. 8th Street ) and march to the Capitol, where we will hold a rally in support of Texas construction workers.
